New ROH World Tag Team Champions Crowned At ROH Supercard Of Honor
New Ring of Honor World Tag Team Champions have been crowned.
The titles were vacated following the passing of Jamin Pugh (Jay Briscoe), who lost his life in a car accident on January 17. The Briscoes had been the reigning ROH World Tag Team Champions, as they defeated FTR in a Double Dog Collar match to win the gold at ROH Final Battle 2022.
At ROH Supercard of Honor 2023, The Lucha Brothers (Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix) defeated The Kingdom (Matt Taven & Mike Bennett), Aussie Open (Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis), Top Flight (Dante & Darius Martin), and La Faccion Ingobernable (RUSH & Dralistco) in the “Reach for the Sky” Ladder Match to win the vacant titles. ROH also debuted a new title design, as the previous version was retired ahead of the show.
In the end, Penta took Dante Martin out with an eye-opening destroyer through a table. Martin landed badly on his ankle, and fans in attendance noted that he was stretchered out of the ring.
Following the Lucha Brothers’ victory, Mark Briscoe, who was holding the old tag titles, came out to the stage. He was followed by FTR, and the trio celebrated with the Lucha Brothers.
The Lucha Brothers are former AEW World Tag Team Champions, and they have also held the tag titles in MLW, PWG, IMPACT, AAA, and other promotions.
